At Buffalo Lake NWR where I found monarchs roosting, right below them in Asclepias subverticillata were nearly three dozen monarch caterpillars ranging from 3rd to 5th instars. This photo shows a few of them -- have video of many more. The link below shows a Facebook live post I did with the Texas Nature Trackers of which I am a biologist for and with.
