Monarch, Captive-Reared
Sightings report image

Date: 10/04/2022

Number: 61

I have never had so many late season caterpillars here in Southern Maine as I've had this year. Since a lot of the milkweed plants that they were on are dead/dying and are unable to sustain them, I decided to collect them to raise and release and hope for the best. I've ended up with over 60 caterpillars since mid-September and my final 2 caterpillars just went to chrysalis today (10/4/22). So far I have released 28 of them and the final count if all goes well will be 61 monarchs. I have never had so many monarch tents going at one time but they are worth it.
