A bright sunny day on the border with the cities of Whitby and Oshawa, Ontario, and right on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Temperature in the afternoon very close to 70 F. In 40 minutes of walking in Intrepid Park (once home to a famous WWII spy facility called "Camp X"), I only saw three monarchs, capturing and tagging one male and one female. Weather turning much damper and cooler in the coming days. Nectar sources declining. These two monarchs captured on white aster and on goldenrod, NOT on New England aster which surprised me (they are in decline).
