The count was an average 10 minute count over multiple times this afternoon. The number of Monarchs had decreased early this week but yesterday (10/06) the numbers started increasing again. Today they have more than doubled. I have watered flowering plants and have at least 1/2 dozen different types of butterflies feeding.
The photo was at about 5:15 pm CDT. The Monarchs were all gathering to roost ahead of rain showers just to our south. At this time I would estimate several hundred all settling down.
