Number: 1

Mike reported: "This new butterfly emerged in the early morning September 7th in a patch of sunflowers about 20 feet from the milkweed where I had previously observed a monarch caterpillar. It was about 90 degrees most of the day. It waited all day, practiced some wing flaps moved to a different sunflower, ascended to the top at the end of the afternoon as the temperature cooled. Took a flight about 50 feet to another sunflower. Another few minutes, it was on its way. Looked like a female. I’ve got more milkweed growing, fall like weather is starting here, hope to see more next year. Have lots of photos and videos of this one Monarch."
