Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 10/10/2022

Number: 2000

Every tree around our home has a large roost in it: pecan, red oak, live oak, cottonwood, mimosa, and long windbreak of pines. Every tree. Counted no less than 100 per tree and there are more than 20 trees. Rained during night so unknown when the mass roosting occurred because there were not that many for yesterday’s report. Feasting on every flower in pollinator garden. Cool temps, slight breeze. Four of us tagged 75 monarchs in 45-minutes.
Magical. The photo shows one of the large roosts in red oak tree.
