Walking down to Tip, a monarch nectared on lavender asters. Oberved another at west path nectaring on same. Arrived on sunny east side beach & in 1 minute observed
9 monarchs, one at a time flying north to south way high above trees. A few descended over the lake & fought hard to continue south against the SW wind. Did not see any continue south but returned to trees. All others mostly 1 at a time, once there was 2 at same time, slowly arrive N to S same high over trees.
All appeared pristine.
Returned at 4:30-5 & could not locate even 1!
Observations by eye, binoculars and camera.
