1 large male eclosed and was released on 10/12. When released, it flew to a woodland aster, rested, and nectared until dark. The night was very cool. The monarch was still on the asters the next morning. When approached, it flew to a sunny spot on our white gravel driveway, warmed up, and then flew off. It was initially raised outside in a mesh enclosure on my screened in porch. When the nights became very cool, it was moved to our glassed in front porch where I ran a space heater at 60 degrees at night.
This year I captive-reared a total of 474 monarchs.
