Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/19/2022

Number: 20

We had a marked decrease of Monarchs after 10/10/2022 with no sightings for several days after 10/13. However since 10/17 the numbers have increased to around 10 to 20 in a 15 minute period. I have noted more smaller Monarchs (about 1/3 smaller) and more damaged butterflies. Today I found at least 3 dead Monarchs in and around my flowers. All had damaged wings. The photo is representative of one small area of about 60 square feet of flowers with nearly 1 dozen different varieties of butterfly present during the day.
