Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 10/25/2022

Number: 1

Rufous still here at 7:20 a.m facing 3rd day of 20 mph wind gust. Beat the Cardinals appearance. Was able to go to same quest of Fiery Hamelia first stop. Could see more buffy stomach feather development along with molting. He was able to catch in his beak, in wind gust, red porterweed blossoms to nectar on. Never seen that before.

Then saw him sit on wire 5 seconds above Fiery Hamelia but couldn't get a pic fast enough. He flew down to a feeder hung in window next to Fiery Hamelia so I think he's found his feeder. Which is the Perky-Pet Planter Box 3-Ounce tube.

Don't think he was able to sit in bending over, windy gusts of purple gurantica today like usual.

Must hide out in maple tree in wind during day.

It would be nice to have an overwintering Rufous report spot for us gulf states that see hummingbirds year round.
