Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 10/30/2022

Number: 1

I found a stage 5 Monarch larva earlier this month in my yard in Tempe, AZ. I moved it along with the milkweed it was eating to a protected mesh rearing cage outside in the shade on my patio. It formed a pupa 12 days ago and eclosed to this adult male early today. I let his wing dry all day and then tagged him BX365 with a tag from Southwest Monarch Study. It's a mostly sunny day with temps in the low 70's and hardly any wind.
