I did rough counts on the two days I submitted data for but saw at least 2-5 monarchs for the last four days and also saw many monarchs in San Antonio, TX, where I live. I thought it more important to submit data for the Santa Rosa beach area since it appears to be less well-known in terms of migration.

I saw the largest concentration during mid to late afternoon on last Thursday and they were feeding on bright orange flowers. I also saw them on and near sand dunes on yellow flowers and watched several fly over sand and close to the Gulf of Mexico. One carried on, flying out to sea!

I saw them at waist level when nectaring but some were flying considerably higher (like the one flying out over the Gulf). That one was clearly heading SW; the others were moving about feeding although I saw 3-5 in total that may have been on their way SW.
