There is a small puddle in our yard where our sump pump empties into the grass. It has become a bird spa for all the species in the area, wild turkeys to hummingbirds. On Sunday, Oct 30, about 1:30 pm, I saw several robins flitting about the hole. I haven't seen or heard robins for a few weeks, so it was lovely to see them again. I tried to take pictures, but it is difficult to distinguish them amidst the leaf litter.
There appeared to be several rival groups of 4-5 birds each. A few would gain the puddle while a male watched out for them, then another male would chase them off, back and forth. My phone only caught the small group at the puddle, but our trees had several robins, and there were many robins in the grass and leaves as well. They stayed for about 30 minutes, then were completely chased off by the crows. I saw them all fly further south into the field behind our house.
