The larvae and chrysalis that I previously reported on September 29 and 30 started to turn color earlier this week. Formed on a dead milkweed leaf that was starting to crumble, I removed the leaf and put onto a shot glass in my unheated sun room for a few days. On November 10 it started to show a butterfly. I taped the leaf together to hold while I attached two pieces of waxed dental floss onto its silk attachment and tied it to the handle of the basket (picture) and set it outside in the now warming temps. Last chance for enough warmth to fly!
