2 days ago I was hose jet streaming a squirell off a squirel restant feeder from patio. The bird feeder is way out by the inground Hamelia. What I think is the Rufous zoomed over my head. I never see it in all in the cold rain every other day we have had. Today I went out to refil same bird feeder for chicadees and heard a hummingbird tweeting away somewhere in that area.
The correspondent friend that lives in Woodlands suburb north says he stil has his female sub adult Rufous since August. And Rufous do trap line feed to other flower/feeders around.
Maybe Rufous are going back to coming to gulf states in winter for Christmas, or are more visible in December. For me, It doesn't look like there are less Rufous like JN relayed, bc there are recent reports. Not everyone reports on a regular basis, just once in a while. So it is good to see those who report daily. They just have not moved down out of some areas yet.
