Milkweed pods I planted last several years have yielded approximately 3000 plants on 13 acres. Most pods have burst and continue to spread seed. In 2020 I saw maybe a half dozen monarchs and found only one caterpillar. 2021 was better with several dozen monarchs sighted and several caterpillars found. 2022 has been breathtakingly dismal and between the Purdue grad students monitoring our field and me no caterpillars found and one monarch spotted all summer. Sad.
