I saw this male monarch fluttering about in the grasses in our upper pasture ~ right near our front yard. It was around 2pm. He seemed to possibly be a newborn, very healthy, but just not sailing around like a seasoned monarch. As he rested on the blade of grass, he slowly opened and closed his wings. After a few minutes he flew up to the nearby cypress tree and again rested there for awhile. Then he flew from there toward more trees and away from our pastures.

It was 82 degrees F, quite warm, sunny w/clouds, south wind 8mph, and 74% humidity.
