Columbus, the Juvenile male Rufous Hummingbird is feeding from the heated Hummingbird feeder, after painting the black hearth with red fabric paint (safest we thought). The feeder is NOT connected to power yet but is uniformly red. Today and tomorrow temperatures are in 50s during day with rain. So, I am allowing the bird to get accustomed to the heated feeder without the heat. Will try a Protein Nectar tomorrow. recipe was given to me by a fellow Journey Norther, Marcia from Oklahoma. She got it from local Wildcare.
