The last time I sighted a hummingbird unknown species but very dark colored was on 12/14/22 . The usual zoom into the maple tree or on the bottom edge of a still leafed River birch tree twig.
This might be the final 2022 report for us. I think as mentioned before overwintering Rufous have changed their habit and by pass overwintering here 2nd winter in a row, because they got stuck in Feb 2021 horrible 3 day snow/ freeze.
Ironically tommorrow 12/22/22 we are predicted to get down to 19 or 21 degrees. We have in garage potted 6 feet purple, coral porterweed. Blooming heavily inground purple Amistad/gurantica will get a 0 degree wind chill even if covered up.
Just can't loose the 6 foot potted red porterweed, potted Rokin deep purple, Loves
and Wishes salvias, or potted Vermillionaire. They are blooming so we brought in house. Need them if a Rufous for Christmas shows up like in past.
