Early appearance today of what is known in N. C. as a “skink”, a shy, harmless black lizard with bright colored stripes on the back and down along the tail. There is a family or two around and under our front porch where it’s cool in summer and perhaps warm in winter as the house was built 1940’s, mid-century of 1900’s, very low to,the ground.
