this adult eagle perched today on the new favorite perch in the old cottonwood along the western shore of Kennebec River along lower Water St. the old favorite perch disappeared some months ago. even as we were attempting a decent photo of this eagle, two immature eagles were following each other first upstream and then downstream in the background. the first eagle with splotches of paler feathers was slightly smaller than the following uniformly dark eagle. the adult must have been aware of the immatures, for one photo shows the adult turned away from the camera toward the location of immature eagles.
