My backyard is shared with my neighbor who has a large tree filled with berries right now. The tree is normally home to a northern mockingbird, and we even saw some northern flickers for the first time on January 30, 2023.
Today — February 1, 2023 — there is a large migration of robins landing and foraging in that same tree, anywhere from 200 - 500 birds. They were flying from the southeast — the center of San Francisco — out toward the beach neighborhood where I live. Most are stopping, munching on a few berries, and continuing forward. It's a spectacle to see all of these birds here.
