Columbus drying himself after shower. Greenhouse temperature peaks around noon to 72 to 78*F nowadays when outdoors is at low 40s. Greenhouse roof vents open leaving a 4ft gap in the roof; 2 of them. We saw Red Tailed hawks hovering over the greenhouse (Koi fish also reside in the greenhouse). This is the reason why Columbus hunts only in the mornings when vents are closed. We switched the roof vents to manual mode today, and side vents to Auto mode. Will be installing a mesh on the side vents, also 4ft high, large enough for hawks, foxes to get in. There are tiny gaps through which Columbus can leave any day he likes. But he is too busy with new blooms every day. At present he is obsessed with Calliandra emarginata or Powderpuff Bush. Hibiscus, Fuchsia and Cuphea have also begun blooming. Watch nectaring video on Instagram million.blossoms
