Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 02/13/2023

Number: 2

Caught two male Red-winged blackbirds on the suet this morning. They didn't stay long and we're scared off easily. I always see them among a flock of various blackbird species that start to arrive around mid-February, but never just a couple. Had 3 Boat-Tailed Grackles on the suet yesterday morning and got a glimpse of a female Cowbird but they weren't here long. No sight of the usual big flocks in the treetops around my yard and feeders that signal the beginning of the spring migration yet. They've been getting smaller every year. I used to hear the raucous calls alert me that a flock has arrived. Hopefully, any day now Have never seen just a couple a day like this before.
