Large flocks of robins in Napa Valley area. About 40-50 immediately outside of my balcony, and several hundreds flying over the area. Outings to surrounding areas (Calistoga and Forrestville) also with frequent sightings of smaller flocks or pairs. Seen during my short trip 2/15 - 2/18.
In the late mornings after the frost melts, they perch on the vineyard posts and then search and feed through the grassy vineyard floors among blooming mustard. Also very active before the sun sets. When daylight is ending many large flocks take flight and from the distance, hundreds of robins were seeing flying eastward for the night. In an attempt to count some of these large flocks it was likely between 1400-1600 that my eyes could see coming from over the hills for about 30 minutes of monitoring in the late evening.
