Sightings report image

Date: 02/25/2023

Number: 1

Columbus has shed p9 as well as some smaller flight feathers. Retrices (Tail feathers) can now be seen. Earlier they were under flight feathers. Body molting has begun. New pin feathers have appeared on the head and neck. This explains why he has stopped his high-wire act. Most of daylight hours are now spent preeening and pecking, His damp Northwest roosting corner has tons of fungus gnats flying, mosquitoes looking to lay eggs. We have arranged Buddleia, Cuphea, Azalea, Salvia, Pansy, Begonia, Gerbera and Fuchsia within 2 feet of his roosting area so he doesn't have to risk flying through plants, space heaters, camera cords etc.
