At 1:30pm it was sunny, 68 degrees F, 37% humidity, and with strong winds from the SE. As I went around for a short while, I saw a few monarchs. Some were flying about, nectaring, and one female was fluttering low checking the milkweed. I accidentally surprised a mating pair in the grass. They then flew to a nearby tree. I will add their photo to a Monarch (Other Observations) report.
This is a photo of a male monarch who paused his sailing about in the gusty winds to take a brief rest and sunbathe.
