Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 03/20/2023

Number: 1

One small hummingbird did a looping flight into Maple tree and Holly tree around 11 a.m. Not seen at feeders or flowers yet rather cold in 50's

Vernal equinox today first day of spring. Need to watch, look out bc of longer hours of daylight now. Cold fronts do slow up birds. Orioles
are late. preasure over Texas has definatly been a factor this week. Most likely why have only seen one today migrating in. 6 days void since last week. We have been in lower 40,upper 30's. Only 50's during daytime. Have feeders bubble wrapped, one with Christmas lights to help keep them warmer. One more minor cold front predicted end of week again.

We also see in past spring real young male rubythroats with very little red on neck area because of last years sometimes late summer hatches in August. Young females are loaded with dots. They are only about 6-7 months old in spring migrating back and cute.
