Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 03/19/2023

Number: 20

This afternoon as I checked some of the milkweed I found at least 20 monarch larvae (1st & 2nd instars). Since the cold front on March 16th, the temperatures have been cooler. This afternoon was sunny, 57 degrees F, 30% humidity, with strong NW winds. The larvae I saw today seemed chilled, but the sunlight was warming them up ~ so some were moving about their plants. This is a photo of a little 2nd instar staying cozy amidst the sunlit milkweed buds.
