Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 03/27/2023

Number: 1

This is a follow-up photo to my Monarch Adult Sighted report for 3/27/2023.

This is the first 5th instar caterpillar I have seen this spring season. This photo was taken the following day, because when I found him it was sunset. His size and glowing colors made him still easy to spot! But not to photograph, as he was tucked under the milkweed leaves and I did not want to disturb him. Much easier to photograph the next morning while he was busily munching on his milkweed leaf!
