Monarch Egg Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/10/2023

Number: 80

From 2:30-3:30pm I went out to check on the abundant new fresh milkweed coming up. It was 65 degrees F, cloudy, 72% humidity, with very light breezes from the NE.

I found 80 monarch eggs (only had so much time). Most of the milkweed plants had just one egg, with some having two, and a few having more than that. I also saw monarch larvae (1st thru 4th instars).

This is a photo of a fresh Asclepias viridis milkweed with 3 monarch eggs. After looking closely at the photo, I realized there is also a tiny newborn monarch caterpillar in the buds. It is hidden just to the right of the egg on the left.
