The day finally arrived! This lovely female monarch was born today ~ our first indoor-reared monarch this spring. She had been brought in as an egg from freeze-damaged milkweed on March 22. On April 9 she formed her chrysalis. She was ready to fly by mid-afternoon, so I regretfully had to let her go. She took off immediately, strong and eager.
