Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/18/2023

Number: 1

I was setting up to eat lunch in the Virginia Living Museum's Conservation Garden when I spotted my first adult monarch butterfly this year as it flew past me and over the fence at the gate near the traffic circle. Spoke with Horticulture Volunteer Cynda Carlson working nearby and she said she had also sighted one monarch butterfly earlier the same day while on her shift, checking over the milkweeds growing in the horticulture area. Butterfly moved too fast for either of us to photograph it. The Virginia Living Museum is proud to be Monarch Waystation #299.
