Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/18/2023

Number: 1

I am the Pollinator Program Leader at Tennessee Environmental Council. We have established a 2000 square feet native wildflower pollinator habitat with 20+ species at the Former Cornelia Fort AirPark in Nashville.
April 18th a Monarch butterfly landed on common milkweed plants and I captured the moment it laid its egg.
We have common milkweed, butterfly milkweed and swamp milkweeds in our gardens. The monarch was quite faded and I suspect it has traveled from Mexico to Tennessee.

I have counted at least 10 eggs on milkweed plants.

Few days later April 21st I have counted 9 caterpillars.
