Yesterday (04/24/23), this beautiful female monarch emerged from her chrysalis. She had formed her chrysalis on April 12th. Since she emerged somewhat late yesterday and it was quite cool, I decided to keep her overnight. Today she was ready to go at noon. It was 69 degrees F, cloudy, with 70% humidity, and calm. Thankfully, she stayed on the flowers for awhile, so I could enjoy being by her. Eventually she began to vibrate her wings, warming them up for lift-off. She flew wonderfully. I hope she finds many monarch friends, milkweed plants, and nectar flowers on her journey north.
