Signs of Spring

Date: 04/26/2023

Number: 1

Heard and saw a Great Black-backed Gull just now. It came over some distant trees, its call drawing notice first, followed by that large, unmistakable body and wing movement. I ran in to get my phone to record its "cow" calls, followed by the higher calls, but he seemed to be searching for some compatriots, and made his way northeast. He was gone by the time I got back outdoors. I've only ever seen them on the coast. This is my first sighting near Lake Erie.
