Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 04/29/2023

Number: 1

Female hummingbird still here in feels like 55 degrees at
7 a.m.-8:30. Trying to catch a Black and Blue salvia with wind gusts. She's in orange part of photo and has a black head. First sighted nectaring on Red porterweed next to window.

I would like to note yesterday she went to a glass feeder with metal red floweres that intimidated her beak. She bounced back off quick. I wish manufactures would stop putting metal flower ports on those feeders. They are hazardes to hummingbird beaks. We have hummingbirds with broken top beaks come thru. I put out another feeder with plastic white flowers, but so far she's sticking with all plants we have.
I'm pulling off red metal flowers on feeders.
