Milkweed (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/25/2023

Number: 1

We mowed our tall prairie grass to make room for tilling for a planted pollinator bed. However, the area was too wet to till, so we sited the pollinator bed elsewhere. We were delighted to find that the mowing in the original location allowed the native common milkweed to get a head start and be the prominent plant in this area during the critical Spring Monarch migration. We will monitor these stems closely for eggs and larvae.
