Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/05/2023

Number: 6

Very unusual happening - From Jan through Mid April, We had30 hummers in our small garden nectaring on 7 feeders - a mix of Allen's and Anna's hummers, some young some mature. It was an incredible charm with hummers zooming across the yard, often in morning and late afternoon 5 hummers at all feeders at one time. It was amazing! Have video at www.tinyurl.com/svhummers
Then on April 11th, I found a dead dove near the feeders - body totally intact, but NO HEAD. Read that a HAWK will do this. The very next day, all but about 6 hummers left, finit, NO MORE to return!! I can only surmise they got scared off. It was immediately after the dead dove occurred in the yard. Now, I only fill one or two feeders a week when I was filling 2 to 3 a DAY for several months.
