Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/13/2023

Number: 1

At about 10:50 a.m. a young female ruby throated hummer(first female of the season) decided she would risk taking in nectar from a feeder while I was just about to put the feeder on its hook. She was about 10 inches from me at eye level. I could see her throat muscles working to take in the nectar. And I could feel the air and vibration of her wing beats on my face. This female rthb is in very good shape. This was one of those cool events that happen every so often.
