So excited to see this little one! Pretty sure this was a female. Our property is large with lots of native honeysuckle and columbine in bloom (literally thousands of flowers), and they prefer the flowers to the feeders I have out. I rarely catch site of them in the Spring - only spotted two males during two different years at a feeder. I usually see them on their way south: they stick around from late July or August through September, and for some reason I only get adult female and possibly juvenile males. No idea whether this one is passing through on migration or if she is nesting nearby. Only time will tell. Only managed a 3 second video when she zipped by to feed on honeysuckle on the patio. Photo is an awful still capture from that video which was taken at an angle through a screen. Saw her again far out on another honeysuckle but too far for a good pic.
