Adult slow flying male rubythroat was still her last night at 7:50 p.m. I saw him out office window come down from our maple tree. Tried to be aggresive to a male cardinal that approached seed feeder.
He was spotted again this a.m. first checking out Black and blue salvia like previous days at 7:30 a.m., didn't nectar from other plants. He then spent from 8- 9 a.m. nectaring on Indian shot canna lilies that we have in a 20 foot flower bed along back fence blooming like crazy. He also didn't check any feeders this morning like usual.
Have no clues why he's still here. I went out again looking in trees for female signs again today. Could be an older male rubythroat.
Our last spring 2022 male rubythroat was sighted on May 15, 2022.
