Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/18/2023

Number: 2

I put out fresh feeders at dawn and stayed nearby By 08:00 I could count 3 at once in the area 1 male enjoyed the blooming sage in between the songbird feeding frenzy with 4 blue jays trying to out imitate each other A female startled me buzzing my face I suspected it was the momma seeing me out for the first time after getting back and greeted her happily But she kept coming back interrupting my reading Now I am convinced it’s her because when I stood up I saw what all the fuss was about The larger birds had left a huge mess contaminating her dining experience I completely misunderstood complaints to the management for "hello old friend”
I knew to expect more sightings when the black locust burst into bloom last week Amur honeysuckle has dominated the nearest unmowed patch I’ve been watching the two rival males act like it’s something special and different than what grows prolifically on the far side Then they just abandoned the site and moved to locust trees in the front I’ve not seen them even once since until yesterday
