I checked my milkweed garden and the leaves were loaded with monarch larva and eggs. to ensure that ants and other insects did not devour them, I placed potted containers of milkweed on my enclosed screen porch. Thus far, I have released 75 butterflies! Found a few first instars today 05/25/2023. Big surprise, there were Queen cats on the milkweed as well. I have cared for monarchs for 13 years and this is the first time I found Queens on the milkweed.
