Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/27/2023

Number: 5

We're finally getting some much needed rain after not having any for weeks. And it's much cooler; definitely doesn't feel like a typical Memorial Day weekend.

Lots of activity with our Rubies today. When checking feeders early this morning (6am), one of our adult males came up and drank from one of the feeders as I was placing it on the shepherd hook, chirping at me the whole time. While out doing a little planting this afternoon, I saw one of our adult males chasing another adult male. An adult female, obviously a Mama, came to within 2 feet from me to feed from one of the Major Wheeler's honeysuckle. She was extremely comfortable with me, so I'm certain she is one of ours from last year. Just a bit later, one of our adult males was performing his U shaped mating dive, which is always a treat to witness. This was all in the front yard. A bit earlier, I spotted both a female and another adult male in our backyard. It was a great hummingbird day. :)
