checked 6 common milkweed with chewed leaves found 5 caterpillars (1 per plant)
All are instar 2 stage (photo didn't upload) approx 1/2 in long with short tentacles and distinct black and white stripes
temps are record highs here for end of MAY
85-90 F day mid 70's nights x 3 days
1st observed egg laying May 18 but temps at night down to 40's for a few days (day 60--70)
2nd noted egg laying May 26 temps have been above average since then
