Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 06/01/2023

Number: 1

Anna’s Hummingbirds placed their nest at the entrance to my compost area. When I walk under it I get “buzzed” in warning. Today I was able to get a picture and it’s a beauty. Mama was sitting on the eggs earlier but I didn’t have my phone. We’ve had pairs of hummers in our yard for many years. They move from one place to another every year a different place: redwood trees, Mediterranean laurel, now in a pittosporum. I believe they winter over; we live in the SF Bay Area with mild winters.
