Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/18/2023

Number: 5

Saw a monarch butterfly flitting over a patch of milkweed (A. syriaca); checked the plants and found at least 5 eggs - 1 to a plant - at the outer edge of the patch. Staked the edges of the patch so my husband wouldn't mow it with the tractor-mower.

Yesterday, had seen 2 monarchs by another patch of milkweed nearby (native dwarf white-flowered milkweed - A. ovalifolia); hopefully, eggs were laid there, too. :)
