Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/28/2023

Number: 1

Although a female Monarch visited my yard yesterday, and left me 8 eggs, today was my first sighting of this summer. The smoke was so bad today, that I needed an N95 mask to go outdoors, but it was worth going out to say hello to the female Monarch, laying eggs on various milkweed patches in my yard. It was a transcendent experience to be around her, while she flew around me, and laid her eggs. The smoke is thick in Southern Ontario today, with Toronto and the GTA having the worst air quality, anywhere in the world, due to the fires that have been raging out of control for many weeks through Canada and the USA. I collected 6 more of her eggs today, and they are safe indoors, to be reared and released.
