The most unusual think about tonight’s sighting was watching a painted lady chase and pester a monarch. We saw 2 monarchs, several painted ladies, cabbage butterflies and 1 swallow tail all in the same 100 square feet within seconds of each other.
My husband and I have ALWAYS had a monarch come out to greet us, in this exact same spot, for the past 3 years. Tonight was the first sighting for this season.
It was about 5:00 pm and the shine was bright, the ground and grass were dry and it was a hot July evening.
